Unknown gunmen on Monday night assasinated a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Boris Naenwi, and three persons at Nonwa community in Tai local government area of the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Naenwi, an
indigene of Yeghe community in Gokana local government area of the state, and
the three others, including a girl, who are siblings were riding in the same
vehicle when the assassins ambushed the vehicle and opened fire on them.
It was further gathered that the
slain APC chieftain, who is a former Councillor in the Gokana Legislative
Assembly, recently concluded his Law degree programme at the University of
Maiduguri.
When contacted, the Police Public
Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Omoni Nnamdi, confirmed the incident but
said he is yet to be fully briefed.
Nnamdi said, “Up till now, what I
have are sketchy details about the incident. I am yet to get the full details.
As soon as I am able to get the full details I will let you know.
